Eataly sued by Yoko Ono’s public relations agent
kipkouri via Twitter Yoko Ono’s publicist Kip Kouri has filed a lawsuit againt Eataly. Yoko Ono’s flak is suing celebrity chef Mario Batali’s eatery Eataly for $ 10 million claiming he was “thrown” through a plate glass window by a trio of bigoted bouncers.
Kip Kouri claims in court papers they called him a “p—y” and a “f—-t” and that he suffered a severe cut on one leg that required 60 stitches to accurate.
“It took a significant amount of force to do what they did,” Kouri’s lawyer Richard Klass said Friday. “This was a thick window.”
Kouri still hasn’t in excellent health from the incident and continues to have distress walking, Klass added.
“It’s not just a corporal injury he had to suffer, but an emotional one as well,” the lawyer said.
The founder of Tell All Your Friends PR, Kouri says he was at the Flatiron neighborhood restaurant on July 17 with his boyfriend, sister and stepmother when he got into a fracas.
Kouri claims they had a 9:30 p.m. reservation and “they gave his desk away,” said Klass.
“It became a heated argument over the reservation,” the lawyer said.
Corkery,Richard Kip Kouri claims bouncers at Eataly insulted him and threw him through a window. Restaurant spokeswoman Cristina Villa did not immediately restore a call and email for note to rebut Kouri’s claims.
But in earlier remarks to Billboard magazine, Villa said Kouri was “visibly intoxicated and acting as a potential threat to others.”
“From our security cameras,” she said, “it’s clear that Mr. Kouri’s friends were also trying to escort him out.”
“We called the police and our security guards had to forcefully remove him from the store,” she said. “While doing so, the whole group banged into the glass window, which crashed, injuring all caught up, including our guards.”
Villa also denied anyone used “homophobic slurs.”
“Unknown on our staff would ever use that word,” she said.
