About Last Night

Having already been made-over as 1986’s slick Rob Lowe/Demi Moore romance, it’s unsurprising that this new adaptation of David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity In Chicago offers even less perversity and isn’t set in Chicago.

It’s essentially two movies – a bawdy farce starring Kevin Hall and Regina Hall, and a winsome romance with Michael Ealy and Joy Bryant – awkwardly combined for chick-tap and bromance demographics. Mamet’s caustic dialogue has been defanged, but just enough of his pessimism survives the process to remain fascinating.
