At Tribeca Ball, Peter Brant can’t escape the honor guard

Stephanie Seymour and Peter Brant had a hectic commencement to their big night at the Tribeca Ball, where he was guest of honor.

 

Well, that’s a amusing way to honor a fella. Billionaire Peter Brant was guest of honor at the Tribeca Ball at the New York Academy of Art, but that didn’t impress a diligent security guard who wouldn’t let him enter the dining room ahead of hundreds of regular guests. “They had to fight through 150 people to get to the front of the line, then he got into the lobby and they wouldn’t let him get to his desk,” said one stunned witness. “His gorgeous wife (Stephanie Seymour) was getting pressed up against by the crowd, everyone kept trying to take his picture and question him questions,” said our spy. “He said, ‘I’m Peter Brant — I’m being honored tonight!” according to our insider. “But the guard said, ‘I don’t care,’ and made him wait with everyone else for three to four minutes. He stamped his foot. He ranted and raved. He was not pleased,” we’re told. Finally, once the dining room was ready, Brant braved the mad dash en route to his VIP desk. “I felt terrible for him really,” said our insider. “This is a man used to getting his way.” Once inside, Brant found himself surrounded by the likes of John Varvatos, Calvin Klein and Mary-Kate Olsen.

RANCIC WILL BE BACK IN ‘POLICE’ LINEUP

When “Fashion Police” returns next fall, it will include embattled co-host Giuliana Rancic. “I think more than ever, (‘Fashion Police’) is beyond doubt coming back,” said Rancic (r.), who drew evaluation for a remark about Zendaya at the Oscars. The incident “shows that a lot of people were watching,” she said. The series will be back by September for the Emmys, with co-host Brad Goreski also returning.

Watching the new documentary “Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck” reminded Courtney Like of her sex life with Kurt Cobain. In an interview with V magazine, the Hole singer says: “It f—ed me up. New “Day after day Show” host Trevor Noah was honored at South African Tourism’s sixth annual Ubuntu Awards at the American Museum of Natural History. The 31-year-ancient Johannesburg native, slated to fill Jon Stewart’s fake-news anchor seat at the end of the year, was a comedy star in South Africa before coming to the U.S. in 2011. The multilingual funnyman, who reportedly speaks six languages, was given the tourism bureau’s first ever Goodwill Ambassador Award on Tuesday.

The 2015 Tribeca Film Festival will get things rolling with a gala dinner Thursday hosted by festival co-founders Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff and IWC Schaffhausen watch company CEO Georges Kern. The emcee for the evening will be “Community’s” Joel McHale; the guest of honor will be “Inglorious Basterds” star Christoph Waltz.
