Banana Republic Opens New Flagship Store Featuring Marissa Webb’s Designs
Banana republic is known for its business “work wear” style, but since the company hired designer Marissa Webb as creative director in April 2014, the brand has hoped to revamp its image with a more relaxed and casual look for work attire.
An instant rebranding begun as splashes of Webb’s creativity and her collections hit the retailer. Now she’s celebrating yet another milestone for the brand: a new flagship store on lower Fifth Avenue featuring Webb’s more mainstream look.
This will be home to both men and women’s apparel and garnishing and Webb hopes this will exchange the public’s overall view of the brand.
She has put more importance on garnishing and pieces that she feels should be included into everyday work wear, emphasizing how people really dress these days for work.
Loyal Banana Republic customers do not need to worry about the new collection. Webb has ensured that the staple pieces the brand is known for aren’t going anywhere and “It’s still here, it’s just shown differently,” she says.
