With seventies mood in the air, the look of suede made a big appearance on the runways. Trench coats, A-line skirts, and classic boot-cut pants came with a soft touch. The use of velvety leather was revitalized while designers opted to fuse it with fascinating colors and shapes for spring.

In Milan, Gucci’s Frida Giannini carried an early seventies and shipmate mind-set with the appreciation of a tanned suede dress, wider legged pants and an A-line skirt all decorated in gold sailor buttons. Cognac coloured suede was also seen on Altuzarra’s button down shirt paired up with a striped skirt, elevating a classic to a whole opulent level.

At the same time, Derek Lam and Jason Wu were both taking us back in time by bringing nostalgia and pops of colour for the rich fabric. Lam showed combinations of lilac, violet, blue and pea green shade on coats, tops, skirts and pants that were almost all top stitched and heavy belted.  Wu’s rendition proposed a modern twist of the silhouette. There were low V-necks, high slits and button-less looking shirts all made up of mineral green and navy dyed hides for spring.

Chloé’s Clare Waight Keller used sandy suede for black-buttoned up and wrapped summer suit and gladiator inspired footwear. There were highs and lows of laces and pops of blush pink, deep orange, textured black and a light minty blue casing wedges and flats.

To get the look for yourself look to multi purpose items you can wear into the fall : jackets, vests, cropped pants. We also like the high shorts style in suede- worth a splurge for a luxe summer feel!
