Fall 2014 runways were rich with global influences. It was the perfect storm of global traveller meets haute hippy with prints, fringe, tassels and fur gracing every piece in some fashion. Chloé, Etro,Valentino and Alexander McQueen were just some of the designers who chose a worldly take for their fall collections. Etro’s lineup worked the whole colour spectrum, with deep crimson and yellows of turmeric and saffron that recall the feeling of habitual Indian garb. While one may be hesitant to combine so many strong colors, the simplest way to incorporate them is to pick one piece and run with it. If there was one key piece that in material form the trend, it would be Burberry’s blanket coat. A simple blanket suddenly seems an impossibly chic option. Of course the cozy nature of it lends itself well to keeping you warm during those cold winter months – all while looking so on point.
