SAN FRANCISCO — Listening to Kim Kardashian talk at the country’s oldest public affairs forum might sound absurd, but with the reality star’s infamous sex tape, you could say she put the public back in public affairs.

Kardashian discussed everything from feminism to guns and her buns Tuesday night in San Francisco. More than 1,300 fans, mainly decked-out young ladies, squeezed into the historic Castro Theatre for an hourlong Q-and-A organized by the prestigious Commonwealth Club of California.

“I guess people would call me a feminist, but I don’t like to put marks on things and shout and say ‘free the nipple’ and stuff,” said the woman who left nothing to the imagination on the cover of Paper magazine last year. She told retired state Judge LaDoris Cordell, who led the friendly interview that “I do what makes me feel comfortable.”

“For me to always say that I was confident and secure just isn’t the case,” said Kardashian, who endured butt jokes at an all-girls Catholic high school in Los Angeles. “I’m insecure sometimes to walk out of the household without my Spanx on”

There’s strain in her accurate knit family these days too. Kardashian revealed that she and her relatives have attended group therapy sessions since her stepdad appeared on the cover of Vanity Honest as trans woman Caitlyn Jenner.

“As a family we just literally prayed that we hope people can know it. There’s certain things that I don’t fully know,” Kardashian said. “Every family member will have a different opinion and reaction and that’s ok. Our like has never changed.”
