Mumford member has clot on brain

MUMFORD & Sons bassist Ted Dwane has a blood clot on his brain that will require surgery.

A statement from the band says the musician had been “feeling unwell for a few days” and went to the hospital on Monday for emergency treatment.

“The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving brilliant care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery”, the statement read.

The Grammy Award-winning folk-rock group has postponed concerts this week in Dallas, Houston and New Orleans.

A statement on its website said there are no plans to postpone or cancel any additional appearances on the current US tour and said the shows would be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Mumford & Sons has a headlining gig on Saturday at the Bonnaroo Composition & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

The four-piece band shot to fame with their debut album, Sigh No More. It’s follow-up, Babel, won Album of the Year at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in February.
