Jose Mourinho has to cut one foreign player from his Premier League squad and two from the Champions League one by the end of the transfer window.

With Thibaut Courtois his first-choice, Cech looks likely to be sacrificed with Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco looking to take him – with Chelsea retaining the option of recalling him at any time should Courtois suffer an injury.

Mourniho in the meantime will rely on back-up goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who will be 42 in October.
