Suge Knight crash video shows mogul was target: lawyer

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

A never-before seen video from the moments immediately after Suge Knight’s deadly parking confrontation prove the infamous rap impresario was the target of a coordinated attack, his lawyer claimed Friday.

The 59-second clip from the Jan. 29 attack in Compton shows a man walking up to a mortally wounded Terry Carter, eases him to the ground and reaches a hand towards the man’s torso.

“I think it shows these men were part of a coordinated attack on Suge Knight, and the two men both had weapons,” lawyer Matthew Fletcher said.

The man then stands back up as he reaches the same hand toward the back of his hip. It’s not clear if the unidentified man took something from Carter, but when he moves his hand back around to his front, he appears to have something that he transfers to his other side.

The unidentified man is the same individual who took something from Sloan as the gang member-turned filmmaker lay on a sidewalk moments after Knight mowed him and Carter down with his Ford F-150 Raptor truck.

“It’s simple common sense. The only things men carry in their waistband in modern times are guns. It’s not reasonable this guy stole their wallets or cell phones. He took evidence that he knew was damaging,” Fletcher said.

The 59-second clip from the Jan. 29 attack in Compton shows a man walking up to a mortally wounded Terry Carter, eases him to the ground and reaches a hand towards the man’s torso.

The video opens a new window into the aftermath of Knight’s confrontation with Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan at Tam’s Burgers in Compton, Calif., on Jan. 29.

A source accurate to Sloan said the item taken from the former gang member was a walkie talkie used for his job as a consultant on the upcoming N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton,” which had a shoot at another location that day.

The source said police in excellent health the walkie and buzz, and have vacant Sloan of any wrongdoing.

Graphic video that purportedly shows Knight plowing over Sloan and Carter and then the exchange between the unidentified man and Sloan was posted on TMZ.com on Monday.

Police previously told The News that Knight visited the “Straight Outta Compton” shoot about two miles away from Tam’s and was questioned to leave following a verbal dispute.

Suge Knight appears in Los Angeles court Monday.

It was a fleeting time later that Knight pulled up to the location and was quickly confronted by Sloan in what Knight’s lawyer has described as an armed waylay.

Fletcher said Sloan started punching Knight through his truck window and tried to open the truck door during the dispute partially captured by the grainy Tam’s security video.

The video shows the truck rocking from the intensity of the scuffle.

Fletcher said Knight, who has poor vision in his left eye, tried to reverse to get away but ultimately had no choice but to drive forward.

“If you are reasonably in dread for your life, with two or three men attacking you, you have the right not only to fight back but to pursue the person who put you in that peril,” Fletcher told The News on Wednesday.

“There is a witness who says that Sloan and Carter had a call and response exchange to the effect of: ‘Should I shoot him?’ and ‘No, don’t shoot him here,’” Fletcher told The News.

Prosecutors believe Knight intentionally struck Sloan and Carter and then fled the scene in a honest hit and run.

Carter’s family previously told The News that the married dad was an upstanding member of the community who helped raise several foster kids and barely knew Knight.

Knight has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder in the case and remains in jail on a no-bail hold.
