Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week Fall 2015- Day 4

With Day 4 of Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week at David Pecaut Square officially crossed off the calendar, the evening’s shows were nothing fleeting of a performance. From a live band at Hilary MacMillan to yoga poses at Lolë and classical Russian composition at Farley Chatto, the runways were brought to life in right creative fashion. With eye-catching Fall 2015 looks ranging from daring fur to understated black wool, here’s Real Style’s report from the front rows at the latest shows.

HILARY MACMILLAN

1) Hilary MacMillan: The rising Toronto designer launched her mark in 2012, and showcased a quirky mix of red and black designs at her Fall 2015 studio show. With a live band and cover performance of both Beyoncé’s Crazy In Like and Sia’s Elastic Heart setting the mood, MacMillan sent furry red vests and black dresses with leather detail down the airstrip. Oversized black blazers, button-down blouses and chic culottes contrasted with hints of floral brocade and the occasional thigh-high slit on a long frock.

LOLE

2) Lolë: Led by design director Andy Thê-Anh, the Montreal activewear and yoga line stayed right to its roots with a series of soothing yoga asanas to launch the studio show. Models stretched in form-fitting white yoga pants and matching tops, which made a sleek outline. Meanwhile, pops of refreshing yellow updated classic leggings, snow pants and gym shorts. From black and white colour-blocked ski jackets to flowing grey cardigans, classic fitness looks were treated to a much-looked-for fall makeover.

farley chatto

3) Farley Chatto: The Toronto-based designer, who graduated from Ryerson University’s School of Fashion, took a step back in time to unveil his dazzling Tzar Nicholas II Imperial Collection for Fall 2015/Winter 2016. With a regal theme, the collection brought lavish costumes inspired by the reign of the late Russian emperor to Toronto. From silver fox coats and black mink bomber jackets to military coats crafted from raccoon and wool, fur clearly ruled the airstrip. White gowns with flowing trains were paired with ermine capelets, for a statement look which channelled luxurious czarina style.

Soia&Kyo Fall 2015

4) Soia & Kyo: At Soia & Kyo, fake snow lined a Fall 2015 airstrip which was inspired by a city sidewalk. The Montreal-based mark, founded by creative director Ilan Elfassy in 2004, featured long coats, loose layers and fur trim. The colour palette of basic black and chic camel was paired with occasional pops of marsala and earthy blue.

RUDSAK

5) Rudsak: At the cool and rebellious Montreal mark, creative director Evik Asatoorian focused on the classic Rudsak passion for leather. The designer featured a globetrotting travel theme, with an airport departure inspired opening for the show. For Fall 2015, smooth brown leather coats were accessorized with fur accents. A cropped black bubble jacket, knit beanies, neutral coats with statement lapels and slim trousers also made a splash. Meanwhile, a bold yellow handbag added a surprising burst of colour to the edgy, dark and timeless outerwear.
