The MTV VMA Awards may be about the video and giving nods to those best of the year, but, let’s be honest, it’s mostly about the red carpet and what the stars wore. This year Katy Perry didn’t disappoint — in face she took a fashion cue from Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s iconic matchy-matchy denim outfits. Pop songstress, Perry, took to social media to hype up her outfit and said that her outfit was a result of her “like for nostalgia and … tumblr addiction.”

And let’s just say that she hit the nail on the head, perfect with matching choker. So who played the role of young Timberlake? Well, it was non-additional than Riff-Raff, who was reportedly the inspiration for James Franco’s character in Spring Breakers — and also who collaborated with Perry on the remix of her hit This Is How We Do. As if this wasn’t enough, Perry messaged Spears on Twitter — and Spears responded!
