While Sunday’s 63rd annual Miss Universe 2014 parade in Miami may have brought an entire flock of global beauties to the world stage, 22-year-ancient Paulina Vega from Colombia has been officially crowned this year’s winner.

According to MissUniverse.com, the brunette beauty is a business administration student studying at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. But, she calls the Colombian town of Barranquilla her home. With the Colombian tenor Gastón Vega as her grandfather and former beauty queen Elvira Castillo as her grandmother (who was titled Miss Atlántico in 1953), it looks like fame and success run in her family.

As for Miss Universe herself, the slender five foot nine winner has been modelling since the tender age of eight.

According to the Associated Press, Vega said “it will be a marvel come right to represent the women of today” after accepting her new title.

We absolutely like Miss Universe’s sleeveless metallic dress with its sweetie neckline, embellished detail and sultry silhouette. It’s clear that her gown is a original take on the season’s coveted metallic trend, with a beauty queen-approved style.

While Miss Colombia may have taken home the gold last night and stolen the focus with her sparkling silver frock, the competition’s runners-up were also notable. 24-year-ancient Miss USA, Nia Sanchez, came in a respectable second place, while 20-year-ancient Miss Ukraine, Diana Harkusha, followed in third place as a second runner-up.
