A ticklish position for Brian Williams
Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images Allison Williams’ recent scene in “Girls” had lots of folks talking. It had to be awkward. Our colleague Brian Williams, the “Nightly News” anchor, has an extremely talented daughter, Allison, who stars on an extremely successful HBO show (“Girls”) and is often put into extremely graphic sex scenes — as are many of the others on the series. But it has got to be weird for her to watch the award-winning comedy with her family — especially last week’s season debut, in which she was seen bottoms up in a most compromising position with a male co-star.
In an interview, her dad was a good sport about it: “She’s always been an actress. For us, watching her is the family occupation and everybody has to remember it’s acting. No animals were harmed during the filming, and ideally unknown gets hurt.”

KLG: Wait a minute, the other actor was licking her what? Brian’s reaction would not be the same as truthful Gifford’s reaction, let me tell you, and it wouldn’t be Kathie Lee Gifford’s reaction, either. My daughter’s an actor, too, and I pray to God I never have to see anything like that. I’m sorry. I’m not judging, I’m just saying I couldn’t watch it. I couldn’t see it. What about you, Hoda?

KLG: For Allison or for Brian and his wife?
HK: I’m sure Allison was praying that he didn’t see it. I know he understood why she did it, because she’s acting and all, but you know there’s a huge part of Allison that was probably like, “Dad, this might be one you’re going to want to skip.”
KLG: She just played Peter Pan. I don’t want to think about Peter Pan doing that.
IT TAKES A THICK SKIN
People watching the Golden Globes had a lot to say about E! correspondent Giuliana Rancic, who is admittedly a very skinny woman. But Rancic, who battled breast cancer in 2011, has always been on the thin side.
KLG: That is the way she was long before she even got sick. That is her build naturally. If she had just lost 100 pounds in two weeks and people were concerned about her shape, then that’s one thing, but this is the Giuliana we’ve always loved and always seen. Some people are just naturally that thin, and people should leave her alone.
HK: Everybody is a critic. People can say what they want, but this is a woman who worked closely with Joan Rivers and knows how to handle barbs. I think she’ll be okay.
A RUMOR IS BUILT ON SAND
The Beyoncé baby rumor mill is churning after the singer posted a beach picture online. She was buried in the sand and looked like she was sporting a baby bump. Her pal Michelle Williams, who was in Fate’s Child with her, rejected the notion, saying it may have just been Bey’s knees under the sand.
KLG: Maybe Beyoncé had a nice lunch. Why is the world so freaking fascinated with a baby bump? People get pregnant every day. It’s no big deal. Pardon the pun.
HK: Beyoncé seems to do all of her talking through Instagram, and this looked like a pic of her buried in the sand with a huge belly and big hooters. Regardless, she looked incredible as always.
KLG: It could’ve been just a joke.
HK: We’re judging from a picture that was tweeted. Okay? Everyone just cool off.
Lots has been said about Amal Clooney’s choice to wear white arm’s-length gloves to the Golden Globes this year. Maybe it wasn’t the best choice, but she still looked splendid. The human-rights lawyer also added a “Je Suis Charlie” pin on her purse while her husband, George, wore one on his lapel to honor the victims of the attack on Charlie Hebdo last week.
KLG: Gloves aside, Amal was sporting the hottest belt of the night … her husband!
HK: Yes! Yes! Yes! Write it down. Done.
