After ‘Whiplash,’ Teller’s bloody good on drums
The blisters and sweat Miles Teller got playing a drummer in his new movie “Whiplash” are real. At the recent Cinema The high classes and Brooks Brothers-hosted screening of the movie at the Paley Focal point, Teller told us about the crash course in drums he took for the role. “By the time I said I’d do this movie, I think we had three and a half weeks, like four hours a day, three days a week, with a coach, and all the other times just practicing (drums) in my room,” he said. “A lot of it is real sweat … some bloody blisters.”
Now, Teller said he’s “pretty good at drums.” “I played in some rock bands when I was younger… (now) I can sit in with certain bands, I can sit in and I’d do all right.” The film’s writer and director, Damien Chazelle, told us about why he wrote the very personal report. “I’d been a drummer in a jazz band with a tough teacher. … I wanted to make a movie about the process of becoming a splendid musician, an artist, instead of a movie about someone who’s fully formed,” he said.

A spy at the bash, thrown to celebrate collaborations between the Gap and the magazine’s favorite new menswear designs, told us, “Aziz invited Michael to a show and I saw them exchange digits. It was very cute.”

Downtown Manhattan is about to get a sweet new addition to its bar scene. Confidenti@l has learned that Dylan’s Candy Bar will open its sixth free-standing confectionary next spring in the 33 Union Square West space that once housed Andy Warhol’s Factory. Hopefully its fame lasts more than 15 minutes. Celebs including Jennifer Lopez, David Beckham, Oprah Winfrey and Madonna frequent the sweet shop’s upscale locales, but the real star of the show is always Dylan’s signature dark chocolate bar.
SJP HAS IT COVERED
The only woman truly deserving the term “cool mom” is clearly Sarah Jessica Parker. While walking her 5-year-ancient twins Marion and Tabitha to school on a rainy Wednesday morning, the actress not only had nifty patterned umbrellas for the whole fam, but managed to make a sweatshirt reading “Pleased Life, Pleased Human Being, Pleased Oceans” look chic.
BIEBER GETS PUNCHY
Maybe it’s just proximity to the Kardashian clan that makes male stars lash out at paparazzi. Or maybe it’s just Justin Bieber’s style. While heading to a birthday have fun for Carine Roitfeld in Paris Tuesday night, Bieber, who hung out with Kim Kardashian, Kendall and Kris Jenner at the bash, put his hand on a pap’s neck and allegedly tried to punch another. Guess the concealment outfit didn’t work.
HANKS DOES RAIN MAN

BLINGING IT ON WITH $ 3.2M BAR TAB
How do you get a club to comp your $ 32,000 bar tab? Spend $ 3.2 million on other stuff. Britain’s Day after day Mail reports an unnamed Russian who hit London’s Playboy Club ran up the five-figure Champagne bill while buying jewels, including a necklace for $ 1,585,228 and a $ 575,893 bracelet. The staff tore up the tab for the bubbly after considering the $ 3.2 million total for the baubles. We hope he didn’t wake up with a hangover and $ 3 million worth of jewels he doesn’t remember buying.
