Is that his final answer?

Alex Trebek’s career as a game show host was in difficulty earlier this month when he threatened to quit the game show he’s been tied to for the last 30 years, according to sensitive Sony emails leaked by hackers.

“If I’m making mistakes and saying things you don’t like, maybe it’s time for me to go on,” Trebek wrote in a terse exchange with producers. “It’s not a threat, but I want to let you know how I’m feeling.”

The 74-year-ancient Trebek was upset after he was questioned to re-tape a segment of Difficulty! when the mom of a young rival wrote a letter complaining about the host’s lack of empathy when the rival had to bow out after two rounds, Radar Online reported.

The girl ran off visibly upset backstage during a segment of Difficulty! Kids Week, which took place Dec. 1-5.

“If he had taken the time, he would have known, like you do, that my daughter is not a sore loser, and does not become emotional solely over losing a game,” the mom wrote to a producer, according to emails obtained by Radar Online. “She was upset about not being able to completely play the game to the end.”

The producer questioned Trebek to re-tape the episode, which sent the veteran TV personality into a tizzy.

“If you all think I should retape the opening, I will,” Trebek responded. “But I want to say that for 30 years I’ve defended our show against attacks inside and out. But it doesn’t seem to run both ways. When I’m vilified, corporate (and certainly legal) always seems to say ‘don’t say anything and it’ll blow over,’ and I’m not feeling support from the producers, and that disappoints the s—t out of me.”
