Amy Winehouse’s dad turns film critic on new documentary

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has declared the harrowing new documentary on his late daughter as “unbalanced” and “misleading.” The film, “Amy,” out July 3, describes Mitch Winehouse as ignoring evidence of the singer’s bulimia, insisting she play shows when she was drug-addicted, and advancing her fame by bringing in film crews when she wanted them gone. But the film’s director, Asif Kapadia, tells The News’ Jim Farber, “This wasn’t me on some crazy mission to spend years of my life to try and pick on anyone. “The footage tells you what’s going on. You can see for yourself,” says Kapadia. “My job was to be as right to Amy as possible. Unknown else has come out against the film,” he said.

Kapadia says others in the star’s circle have told him, after considering the film, “ ‘I’m not comfortable with it, but it’s what happened.’ ” Amy’s then heroin-addicted ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has keenly copped to his culpability. “More than anyone, he admits to all the mistakes he made,” Kapadia says. “He did a lot of terrible things. There’s no denying it.” Fielder-Civil’s actions at the time sometimes had terrible consequences. In one of the movie’s most hard passages, friends clarify a scene in which he accidentally cut himself while extremely high, causing him to bleed copiously. Winehouse then cut herself on purpose to mirror him. “She wants to feel what he feels,” Kapadia says. “In order to know him, she needs to do what he does. It’s really all so sad.”

The star-filled crowds have included country composition singer Chely Wright, Laverne Cox, “Transparent’s” Judith Light, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Rickman, Barry Manilow, Rebel Wilson and “Frasier’s” Peri Gilpin, who came a second time to see former TV co-stars Harriet Harris and Edward Hibbert.

J.LAW STICKS IT TO ’EM

We’ll have what she’s having. After dining out in SoHo, Jennifer Lawrence took some chopsticks along after the meal and playfully put them in her mouth while goofing off in front of waiting paparazzi. The “American Hustle” starlet, who looked to be having the time of her life, wore a white dress and black heels. The fun didn’t stop with silly faces; she made it a point to dance her way out of a car while entering her hotel.

COUNTESS WILL REIGN AT GAY PRIDE

When it comes to pride, Bravo’s not gay enough for the Countess. The network doesn’t have its own individual float at the NYC Gay Pride Parade this Sunday, but Bravo stars will be waving rainbow flags from the NBC Universal float. The “Real Housewives of New York” star and gay fan favorite LuAnn de Lesseps, but, has ditched the NBC float for the Global Groove Entertainment Float,” which will be equipped with a better sound system and allow de Lesseps to perform her hit summer anthem, “Girl Code,” for the crowd. With her will be Dorinda Combination, who will join her “Housewives” cast mate for a dance off.

REESE HAS ELLE OF AN ANNIVERSARY

Friday marks the 14th anniversary of the release of “Legally Blonde,” and the film’s star, Reese Witherspoon, still likes pink and likes to shop while in L.A.

PRINCE IS ON THE WAY UP

Prince George, who turns 2 years old next month, was carried around Bucklebury Farm Park (above) by his grandma Carole Middleton, who lives nearby. The 77-acre park in Berkshire has a petting zoo that houses llamas, donkeys, ponies, pigs and goats. Management has restricted photography in the park since it became a favorite hangout for the young royal last fall.

A RAHR SIGHTING AT NOBU

Nobu has said yes to Stewart Rahr. More than two years after the pharmaceutical billionaire was reportedly “banned” from the high-end sushi string for feuding with staffers at the 57th St. location in New York, Rahr loved not one, but two dinners at Nobu in London this week. “Loved it soo much last night that I returned tonight,” Rahr emailed restaurateur Drew Nieporent, along with photos of himself and a date holding up Nobu menus. He added, “Splendid ambience, pal.”

Sting and his hairy face plucked the bass at a dinner have fun for iHeartmedia at Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France. In the crowd were rapper Will.i.am, singer Louise Redknapp and model Daisy Lowe. The former Police singer was also seen playing an acoustic guitar and serenading wife Trudie Styler on the beach earlier in the day.

Brazilian super-duper model Alessandra Ambrosio strutted the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in a two-piece bathing suit that showed off her washboard abs. The 34-year-ancient mother of two is now filming the Brazilian telenovela “Verdades Secretas.”
