An exercise in frustration for Wendy Williams workout class

How’s Wendy Williams doin’?

Fine, if she doesn’t have to implementation.

Williams fans who signed up for the TV star’s invite-only “SoulCycle Class with Wendy Williams” found the only thing the event’s “host” was up for peddling was her upcoming gig as emcee for BET’s Soul Teach Awards. As one participant put it: “She catfished us!”

Spandex-clad participants at the SoulCycle studio on W. 27th St., knew something was up when the candid Asbury Park, N.J., native arrived in total glam mode, including a full face of makeup, fake eyelashes and a T-shirt emblazoned with her signature “How you doin’?” catchphrase.

“I’m not really going to ride,” the straight-talking Williams said right away. “But rather than make up some lie, I’m just going to tell you I’m leaving.”

Soon after, she did just that.

But not before telling the crowd she’d already been up for 12 hours by the time the 4:30 p.m. class was to get underway. Williams, 50, added that she’s of an age where some things just aren’t realistic. She further pled, “How could I ride in this wig, fake eyelashes and Keds?”

Before completing her hit-and-run, Williams browbeat the crowd for clemency.

“Do you forgive me?” she questioned.

Once the captive audience granted her a pardon, Williams got on top of a stationary bike and pretended to work out just long enough for photographers to get their photos and organizers to tape a minute of staged video footage.

The class promised a “Soul Teach” theme, with a playlist featuring tunes by Chris Brown, Beyoncé and Drake — all of whom are nominated for Soul Teach Awards. Our spies got a chuckle out of the fact that organizers even slipped in “We Need a Resolution” by Aaliyah, whose Lifetime biopic, “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B,” was produced by Williams. The TV movie about the pop star, who was killed in a 2001 plane crash, aired last weekend to horrendous reviews and intense backlash.

On Tuesday, a press release celebrating the SoulCycle event failed to mention how Williams had taken her fans for a ride, carefully stating: “Last night, talk show host Wendy Williams hosted a special Soul Teach-themed SoulCycle ride” in advance of the awards. BET had better hope Williams is more in gear for hosting the awards show than she was on Monday.
