Watch what happens when Andy Cohen is surrounded by huge, big stars.

The frisky Bravo honcho looked like a kid in candy shop while buzzing around before the huge, star-studded “Colbert Report” grand end sing-along featuring former Head Clinton, Barry Manilow, Willie Nelson, Henry Kissinger, the Cookie Monster and James Franco. But Cohen’s enthusiasm wasn’t always mutual.

“He was going up to everyone asking to take selfies,” says one set source. “Most people were trying to stay away from him, but he just wouldn’t stop. Poor James Franco, David Gregory, Patrick Stewart and ultimately Henry Kissinger all finished up in pictures with him, whether they liked it or not.”

The ensemble cast was divided into groups backstage, where Andy ultimately finished up being assigned to James Franco’s team for the instant classic TV end.

The Colbert End was a paradise for someone (me) who likes random gatherings (and selfies): Franco, Kissinger, La Amanpour, David Gregory, Patrick Stewart, Jeff Tweedy & the splendid Maureen Dowd.

“Cohen knew exactly what he was doing during the musical goodbye,” says our source. “He was singing so loud and waving his arms around with more drama than Liza Minnelli — Franco was trapped on camera giving him an evil side-eye.”

Our spywitness joked that the always lively Cohen was even a bit much for Stephen Colbert’s over-the-top farewell show.

“When James Franco is telling you to cool down the self promotion, you know you have a problem,” laughs our insider.

Colbert started singing “We’ll Meet Again,” and was quickly joined by longtime friend and collaborator Jon Stewart, then the random groups of celebs who’d been waiting backstage to join them. Ultimately, Bryan Cranston, Katie Couric, Arianna Huffington, Keith Olbermann, Cyndi Lauper, Charlie Rose, Ken Burns, Elijah Wood, Bob Costas, Patrick Stewart, Tom Brokaw, George Lucas and others were on the stage with Colbert and his Comedy Central replacement, Larry Wilmore.

Cohen wasn’t alone in being snap-pleased. Franco, Couric and Cyndi Lauper well-known the big night on social media too.

Soon after, Cohen tweeted, “The Colbert End was a paradise for someone (me) who likes random gatherings (and selfies): Franco, …” and posted the selfies on Instagram.
