Ray Rice assaults wife

Your Fantasy Football standings can wait. New video footage of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice‘s February 15 assault of then-fiance (now wife) Janay Palmer has surfaced online, and the disturbing details have left many outraged.

“I don’t know much about football, but I know that Ray Rice is a piece of garbage who shouldn’t be allowed to play it professionally anymore,” tweeted Seth Rogen on Monday morning. The actor also noted the disparity between Rice’s official suspension from the National Football League (two games and more than $ 500,000 in fines) compared to players who have tested positive for marijuana (one year). The NFL claims they had not seen this more detailed video at the time of Rice’s hearing in July. “That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it in anticipation of today,” a league spokesman told ESPN. Actors (Seth Rogen, Josh Gad), current NFL players (Terrance Knighton, defensive tackle for the Denver Broncos), and even past domestic abusers (Chad Johnson) are commenting on the release of the video, and in most cases, demanding both NFL and legal action against Rice.

The discussion around the video footage, and its potential effect on Rice’s career have silenced the typical Monday morning football conversation.

UPDATE: Ray Rice has been released by the Baltimore Ravens.
