Chelsea Handler will only take 2 aides to Netflix

Staffers at Chelsea Handler’s soon-to-end “Chelsea Lately” show have been disappointed to learn she’s only committed to take only two top aides along to her new project at Netflix.

Insiders tell Confidenti@l that Handler had calmed nerves around the office when the go was announced, telling many writers and producers she’d be bringing them along for the ride.

But ultimately, only longtime collaborators Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack are a lock to join her at the new gig when “Lately” ends Aug. 26. So with production on the new show not due to start in anticipation of 2015, others have been left to look for new jobs.

“Obviously there were a lot of people in the office saying ‘Oh, s—’ when they heard about the Netflix deal,” said the source. “At first Chelsea was telling people, ‘It’s fine. You’re my staff — I’m going to take care of you guys.’ I don’t know what happened in between, but at this point there’s no plans for anyone but a couple of guys who have been with her since the commencement to make the transition.”

Both Brunelle and Wollack, who are part of Handler’s production company, Borderline Incredible, are executive producers and writers on “Chelsea Lately” and were producers on “The Chelsea Handler Show,” the sketch series that aired on E! from April 2006 to September that year.

“It’s weird for a lot of those guys (staff members), because Chelsea’s a splendid boss and she’s been very supportive and loyal to her staff. So on the one hand people were expecting her to take them to Netflix, so they’re disappointed, but on the other hand they’re like, ‘Well, we’d be nowhere without Chelsea and she can’t carry people forever,’ ” said the insider.

“It’s tough as well, because the crew are really accurate with each other and with Chelsea. They’ll go on vacations together,” said our source. “Chelsea will put on yoga classes for the staff with (Jennifer Aniston’s yogi) Mandy Ingber and things like that.”

Handler, who will do standup specials and a talk show for Netflix, is particularly generous to her underlings. After signing a $ 25 million deal with E! to renew her contract in 2011, she reportedly gave 138 members of her staff $ 1,000 each in cash.

Reps for E! and Handler declined to note, while a rep for Netflix said it is too early to note on staffing.
