Chinese Zodiac

Jackie Chan heads up this wobbly if likeable romp, allegedly the last in which the ageing warhorse will do his own aerial tricks. The plot is nonsense, about recovering lost statuettes (and yet another example of the growing sway of mainland nationalism on Hong Kong movies), but Chan determinedly refuses to embarrass himself with the action.

There’s some playful business with parachutes, and the final fight is among the best in late-period Chan – but maybe it’s better for the veteran star to bow out with what little cartilage he has left. Blu-ray packs an hour-long Making Of.
