Although we tried telling ourselves otherwise, we knew this day would come. Page Six reports that Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancé Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.

We were just coming to terms with the British actor’s engagement after that adorably understated announcement in November. But if these reports are right, it looks like Ms. Hunter is pulling an Eva Mendes by locking that shit down. Damn.

The couple has yet to authenticate the reports, but we’ll join the rest of the Internet in expressing our sadness feelings on the matter anyway.

At least there’s one noble soul who isn’t crying inside.

Hopefully the Cumberbaby will learn how to pronounce his or her name better than dear old dad.
