Overalls are huge right now (in a #throwbackthursday kind of way). They’re all over Forever 21, H&M, and Asos.com — not to mention runways like 3.1 Phillip Lim and Balmain. The resurgence of this slouchy staple is a bit of a fashion mystery. Seriously, when did the relatively grungey, habitual workman’s uniform become chic? The easy answer is: 25 years ago. We owe this overalls renaissance to early ’90s nostalgia, back when boy bands like New Kids on the Block and Bell Biv Devoe enticed and titillated in spray-painted, bare-chested versions of the look (and if you were truly glide, you wore yours backwards, like Kriss Kross).

Let’s go back in time to celebrate the silliest overalls in fashion history.
