Giles Deacon Presents At Kensington Palace – The New Catwalk?

Giles Deacon has been named the designer who will present a fashion footbridge show at Kensington Palace, the official London home of the royal Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Aggravate. Named the Georgian Fashion Remix, the October 22 show is part of  The Glorious Georges, a year-long series of events taking place at Kensington Palace to mark the 300th anniversary of George I’s ascension to the throne. Deacon isn’t the first designer to show his work in a royal home in recent past. Here are a few other catwalks that were hosted by royalty.

Chanel - Linlithgow Palace

Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld, the man who had a footbridge on the Splendid Wall of China, to also host a show within a royal palace. For Chanel’s Métiers d’art collection in 2012, Lagerfeld chose to host host his 400 guests in Linlithgow Palace, a 15th century palace that was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. Chanel also just announced that it’s next Métiers d’art collection will be shown at the Schloss Leopoldskron castle, which is the 18th-century Austrian palace that served as the further than of the Von Trapp household in The Sound of Composition.

Savile Row tailors and others – Buckingham Palace

The royal family hosted a celebration event just last year for Queen Elizabeth’s 60th coronation anniversary where they welcomed a number of fashion shows within Buckingham Palace Gardens. Savile Row’s finest tailors, along with Austin Reed, Hunter Boots, Ettinger, John Lewis and Peter Jones, were among the designers to showcase their latest collections on the Buckingham Palace footbridge that celebrated British style.

Louis Vuitton - Prince’s Palace of Monaco

Nicholas Ghesquière went big for his Resort 2015 footbridge in Monte Carlo. The Louis Vuitton show was set up further than of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco in a see-through tent, so as not to miss the splendid beauty. Apparently it was Princess Charlene who not compulsory that Louis Vuitton show its collection there, and she and Prince Albert sat front row, of course.

Giles Deacon and Stephen Jones – Kensington Palace

British designer Giles Deacon and renowned milliner Stephen Jones are throwing a one-time fashion show in the gorgeous Orangery within Kensington Palace on October 22. It will celebrate Deacon’s bold use of colour and texture and will feature items from Deacon’s collections, which have drawn inspiration from the 18th century style, a trait that Kensington officials say is the reason he was chosen for the event.
