Although we’ve all heard of road style, Gucci’s Resort 2016 show made a statement in New York City yesterday, with models swaggering across West 22nd Road in the Huge Apple!

The latest line was designed by Gucci’s new creative director Alessandro Michele, who chose both the Chelsea Gallery and the sidewalk as the official airstrip for the resort collection.

In terms of the new designs themselves Gucci brought bold prints, bright shades of pink and yellow and floral accents to the Resort 2016 collection. From chevron stripes to silhouettes from the 1960s and 1970s, retro inspiration was in the air at Gucci.

Mustard yellow and purple added a refreshing, multicoloured touch to the collection, and made a splash on everything from a playful pleated skirt suit to flowing frocks. We are loving the flowing hemlines, flirty shift dresses, ruffles and contrasting details which mark the collection. Meanwhile, the oversized floral print handbags added vintage charm to the eye-catching mixed prints on show.

Although cruise style often focuses on chic neutrals or basic whites, the Gucci Resort 2016 collection certainly brought colour to the streets of New York City! Here’s a closer look at a few key looks from the show.
