Here’s for merry and bright holidays to all!

Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford hope you have a festive holiday season!Peter Kramer/NBC Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford hope you have a festive holiday season!

There’s nothing like some Christmas traditions to put a little jingle in our bells. But this year, we’re shaking up the holiday. Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! But you say it, we hope yours is merry and bright and filled with lots of blessings and like.

KLG: We’re taking the kids and going to our home in Florida. As the years have progressed and truthful and I have gotten gnarlier, we want to go down there at Thanksgiving and not come back till Groundhog Day! The only tradition we still stick to, after all these years, is giving our children three gifts, just like the baby Jesus. It keeps the reason for the season foremost in our hearts. truthful and I are just going to sit on the dock and toast the sunset with a pot of GIFFT wine.

HK: When we were small, we’d have to wait for our parents to wake up – and we could never rush them. My brother Adel and sister Hala would sit at the base of the tree and stare at the gifts. And wait. And then wait some more.

KLG: Which made it sweeter.

HK: My parents tried to teach us patience our whole lives. And then we would each take turns opening one gift, while the others watched and oohed and aahed. I’m such a rip-it-open kind of person, it just wasn’t honest! But this year, my mom, my sister and I are going to chase the sun in Puerto Rico.

IT’S ‘TODAY’ BUT AT NIGHT

The fun-loving fourth hour of “Today” anchors will help celebrate the start of 2014 with a star-studded, year-end NBC fill in-time special, “A Toast to 2014!” The special will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

HK: We’re very sparkly in it.

KLG: I felt like a stuffed sausage, but Hoda looked excellent.

HK: We both looked like sparkly freaks. But we were so drunk, so we didn’t know what happened.

KLG: That’s not right! You’re perpetuating a myth.

HK: It’s reality. We laughed and had a crazy time.

KLG: And we sang with Sting!

HK: We were holding hands and singing. And he had huge, rough-man hands. He’s really sexy. I’m not kidding.

KLG: He’s a real man and a lovely gentleman.

HK: We did dry-hump him but I don’t think it’s going to make it.

KLG: Even if it doesn’t make the show, we humped Sting.

A DREAM TO GET SLEEP

Michelle Obama said all she wants for Christmas is to sleep in. And we couldn’t agree more.

KLG: We all want to sleep in, but I want to do it naked.

HK: Of course you do.

KLG: What’s your Christmas wish list?

HK: I like time with people.

KLG: And a no-Spanx day.

KEY IS PRESENCE, NOT PRESENTS

We like to give good gifts. And we’re really good at it, too. But presents are never the focus of our holiday.

KLG: My kids probably can’t remember any release gift they got, but I’m sure they remember the joy in the moments we shared.

HK: I gave my sister an iPad once and she really like it. But we’re not doing presents this year, just a trip.

KLG: That is your present.

HK: We promised no gifts, just toes in the sand.

TREE’S COMPANY AT HODA’S PLACE

Get this: Kathie Lee isn’t going to have a Christmas tree this year and Hoda basically keeps hers up all year round. Kidding, kidding. Well, sort of …

KLG: Hoda never takes her tree down. She puts in back in the closet, stuff and all.

HK: I’ve always had a fake one, so we always just put it away and then brought it back out. But now I’ve got a real one, so it goes when it’s a pile of needles. Usually around March. First you’re like, “It can make it a little longer”, and then needles fall off and the lights aren’t far behind.

KLG: So you mean around St. Patrick’s Day? This is the first time – and it feels so liberating – that we don’t have a tree. I got some wreaths and that’s it. As you get older, you minimize. And we’re ancient, baby.

OUR PLEA FOR PEACE ON EARTH

We’ve got some Christmas wishes for the world, just some things we’re hopeful for.

KLG: I pray that the persecution of people who are being targeted for what they believe in comes to an end.

HK: I know wishing, praying and hoping for peace almost sounds ridiculous, but I wish that people could get the feeling of a warm hand on their hearts, and we would all just cool down.
