While the sultry look of mesh panels on blouses and transparent flowing skirts may have made a splash on runways for Spring 2015, it’s certainly a style challenge to bring this racy trend from the footbridge to your closet. Here’s our guide to bringing this airstrip trend to reality, and hitting the sidewalks in sheer this season.

1) Layer a mesh blouse for a modest look: With its bold cut-out and girlish pink hue, this matching skirt and top from Versace’s Spring 2015 collection offers a flirty peek of skin. For a conservative take on the trend, add a dark sleeveless top under a mesh blouse and pair your ensemble with a flirty cropped blazer for a layer.

2) Use a sheer blouse as a sleek way to cover a crop top: If a tiny crop top has left you feeling over-exposed before you head to that big soiree, try adding a lightweight sheer blouse as a finishing touch. The extra fabric will add coverage around the midsection, while allowing a sneak peek of those flawless abs to shine through.

3) Wear tights under sheer pants: Needless to say, while Kris Kardashian may partake in the literal ‘no pants – no problem’ look, for the rest of us the sheer or mesh pants look maybe somewhat daunting. Not all trends need to be embraced and we are sitting this one out. Nevertheless, if your heart is set on trying this out, then pair with funky tights in a floral print pattern or black leggings for a fun, trendy look.

4) Pair a flowing sheer maxi skirt with a midi skirt: The airy look of a sheer maxi skirt may be a perfect look for the beach, but it can quickly be transformed into a wardrobe staple for a casual weekend. Toss a flowing white skirt over a fleeting frock for a bohemian feel, or pair with a brightly coloured midi pencil skirt for a pop of colour and extra coverage.

5) Layer a see-through frock over a classic little black dress: For fashionistas who are not willing to courageous the sidewalks in a revealing sheer dress, try turning a sleeveless black dress into a subtle slip. Add a light and airy see-through dress over the LBD, for a layered look without a bulky feel.
