EMMANUEL DUNAND/AFP/Getty Images Jay Z, shown with his wife, Beyoncé, at a Brooklyn Nets game last year, is reportedly facing a civil suit in New Jersey from a 21-year-ancient man who claims the megastar is his father.
Jay Z is reportedly facing a paternity suit in New Jersey from a 21-year-ancient man whose guardian claims in court papers that the megastar rapper is trying to duck a DNA test to determine whether Hova is his poppa.
Rymir Satterthwaite, a Jersey resident formerly from Philadelphia, claims that his mother, Wanda, hooked up with Jay Z in the early 1990s, before the product of Brooklyn’s Marcy Houses became one of the world’s leading rappers — and well before Jay’s marriage to Beyoncé, according to a National Enquirer report.
Satterthwaite’s legal guardian, a paralegal named Lillie Coley, filed the suit in a New Jersey civil court in December 2014, the Enquirer reported Wednesday.
The Day after day News could not immediately reach Satterthwaite or a rep for Jay Z, to request note.
The report indicated that the question of Satterthwaite’s parentage goes back to at least 2010. That year Wanda tried to force Jay Z in family court to submit to a paternity test after it was determined that another man was not the boy’s father, according to the Enquirer report.
Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic Jay Z, Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy Carter look like a pleased family at the 2014 MTV Video Composition Awards in August 2014. The paternity suit was filed in a New Jersey civil court in December 2014, according to a report.
The case was dismissed by New Jersey Superior Court Judge Edward McBride, Jr., according to the Enquirer. McBride tossed the case because he found that he did not have jurisdiction — Jay Z’s lawyer had argued that the superstar lives in Manhattan, not the Backyard State, according to the Enquirer.
But McBride’s choice opened the door for a claim to be pursued in civil court. In the civil suit, Satterthwaite’s guardian accuses Jay Z — real name Shawn Corey Carter — of providing “fraudulent” information to the judge — namely his claim that he lives in Manhattan when he reportedly owns real estate in New Jersey.
Jay Z and Beyoncé married in 2008 and had a daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in January 2012. The couple was met with controversy in May of last year when a video emerged of Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, attacking Jay in an elevator while her well-known sister stood by and did not intervene. The now-well-known elevator smackdown video was filmed at the Standard Hotel in Manhattan; the three were leaving an after-have fun for the Met gala.
The video fueled rumors that Jay Z and Beyoncé had hit a rough patch in their marriage, but in October of last year the couple reportedly renewed their vows while on holiday in Europe.
