Jay Z to pay royalties from ‘Versus’ to Swiss musician

Jay Z is to pay half the royalties from one of his songs to a Swiss jazz musician after using his composition without permission.
Following an 18 month legal battle, the rapper will pay money to Bruno Spoerri for using the 79-year-ancient’s instrumental “On the way,” in his song “Versus.”
Spoerri confirmed the payment to the ATS news outfit.
Spoerri, a pianist and saxophonist, collected his piece in 1978.
Jay Z at first denied using the composition but as now admitted he did so without attribution.
Spoerri rejected an earlier offer to settle the dispute, because the offer was too low, reports The Local.
