Jennifer Aniston praises Angelina Jolie’s film ‘Unbroken’
Jennifer Aniston has a message for those who think she has a rivalry with Angelina Jolie: Let it go.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Friday, a few hours after she and Jolie made headlines for avoiding a red carpet run-in at the Critics’ Choice Awards, the actress was questioned about the persistent rumors they are rivals due to the well-publicized end of Aniston’s marriage to Brad Pitt, who not long after started a relationship with Jolie.
“I think that’s slowly coming to an end,” Aniston said. “I really do.”
To make her point, she praised Jolie’s film “Unbroken,” which did not hear any Oscar nominations, an omission nearly as glaring as the “Friends” star getting snubbed for a Best Actress nod for “Cake.”
“I mean, that movie is so gorgeous and wonderful, and she did such a gorgeous job,” Aniston said about the World War II drama.
“I think it’s time people stop with that petty B.S. and just start celebrating splendid work and stop with the petty kind of silliness,” she added.
It’s been a decade since Aniston and Pitt announced their split, with both having went on to other relationships: Aniston is engaged to actor Justin Theroux, and Pitt married Jolie last summer and have six children together.
To Aniston, the rumors aren’t just annoying, they’re “tiresome and ancient.”
“It’s like an old leather shoe,” she noted. “Let’s buy a new pair of shiny shoes.”
