Jennifer Lopez experienced her “first real heartbreak” from Ben Affleck.

“When Ben and I split up at the moment when I plotting we were committing to each other forever, it was my first real heartbreak,” the singer wrote in her new chronicle “Right Like.”

Lopez and Affleck started dating in 2002 shortly after meeting on the set of the film “Gigli.” While the movie bombed at the box office, the real hit was their budding romance that made quite the media frenzy.

Known as Bennifer — a name Lopez confessed she despised — their relationship quickly became the talk of the town.

“Being a couple that was on every tabloid cover for two years straight, hounded by the paparazzi and constantly judged,” the “If You Had My Like” singer wrote, “our relationship crumbled under the pressures of the media scrutiny that surrounded us.”

Just as quickly as they got engaged, their relationship came to a sudden end in January 2004 days before they were set to marry.

“(We) called off our wedding, ending our very public relationship in suitably dramatic fashion just days before we were to walk down the aisle of a fairy-tale wedding we had plotted for months,” Lopez recalled in her book.

Beside the marvel wedding, she had big plans for their future together and that all came crashing down in an instant.

“It was just the cover of a magazine or a headline to everyone else — today’s joke, tomorrow’s trash,” she said of being haunted by the focus.

What the public didn’t see is how the impact of the split truly affected her.

“It felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest,” Lopez wrote.

“When the realization that I wasn’t going to have the fairy tale family I wanted really set in, well, that was when I really started to fall apart,” she added.

While others may deal with heartbreak by drowning their sorrows with alcohol or by doing drugs, Lopez was never one to get over a failed like that way.

“I required out comfort in another person,” she confessed. “(I) tried to find someone who could make me feel loved and wanted in my loneliest hour.”

Enter in Marc Anthony, who had no problem stepping in to be Lopez’s shoulder to weep on.

“Right from the commencement, he never made it a bolt from the blue that he liked me,” she wrote.

“He was confident and strong, he was so sure of everything,” she described. “And at this moment, when I felt so lost, so broken and alone, there he was.”

Ben Affleck married Jennifer Garner about one year after his relationship with Jennifer Lopez finished. Lopez married Marc Anthony just a few months after the split from Affleck.

Five months after her world came crashing down due to the split from Affleck, Lopez became Anthony’s bride. Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005.

By February 2008 Lopez and Anthony welcomed their twins Emme and Max and it seemed “Jenny from the Block” finally had the family she’d always dreamed of.

“Maybe I had to go through the terrible so I could end up with the person I was meant to be with all along,” Lopez wrote.

Unfortunately, the “Like Don’t Cost a Thing” singer called it quits with Anthony in July 2011 after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized nearly three years later in June.
