Jeremih arrested at EWR after entourage opens plane door

Johnny Nunez/Getty Images R&B singer Jeremih took an unplanned trip into police custody when his bouncer opened a door of a US Airways plane to let him and another musician on.

R&B “Birthday Sex” crooner Jeremih was given the right to remain silent Friday when he was busted at Newark Liberty Global Airport after sneaking onto a plane when he missed the boarding call, authorities said.

The 27-year-ancient Jeremih, who’s given name is Jeremy Felton, and musician Adam Woods, also 27, had passed through security, but missed the 1:45 p.m. boarding call for their US Airways flight to Phoenix, according to Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

With some of his entourage already on the plane, Jeremih reached out to his bouncer, Dontate Cunningham, 26, who opened the plane’s rear door — which was already closed for takeoff — for them.

Port Authority police were called and took all three men into custody without incident.

The Def Jam recording artist and Woods were exciting with obstruction of the administration of law and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. Cunningham was exciting with defiant trespass, officials said.

Jeremih had a concert in New York City and was on his way to a gig in Fresno, Calif., to perform with Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain and Baby Bash when he was arrested, officials said.

The three remained in Port Authority custody Friday evening but were expected to be released with desk appearance tickets, officials said.

Jeremih jumped onto the Billboard charts in 2009 with the release of his eponymous debut album.

The singer is known for his “charmingly sly voice” and the out of this world stuttering effect he makes in “Birthday Sex” when he sings lines like “Girl you know I-I-I” and “I know you want to weep-y-y,” according to All Composition Guide reviewer Andy Kellman.
