John Galliano Makes His Debut At Maison Martin Margiela

Former creative director of the household of Christian Dior John Galliano made his restore to fashion with his first show for France-based mark Maison Martin Margiela.

It’s been four years since he was fired from Dior for racist and anti-Semitic comments said in a Paris bar. All that time had only heightened the anticipation to see what he had made. The show took place at the London Collections: Men, with a guest list included the likes of Rage Editor Anna Wintour, the chief creative and executive officer of Burberry, Christopher Bailey, Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, Kate Moss, and Manolo Blahnik.

This was a foremost event, and journalists from around the world had flown in to catch a glimpse of his designs. His collection which was called the Artisanal Show, was like art brought to life. Galliano used precise tailoring, unique techniques and painter-like craftsmanship. There was a mix of different fabrics and materials like shells which he used to make three-dimensional faces on the fronts of some pieces.

Looking past his mistakes, and looking onto his future now with Maison Martin, his talent and skills are being used the way they should, to make gorgeous haute couture.
