John Mayer jokes about Taylor Swift avoiding him at Grammys

John Mayer is looking forward to attending the Grammys – but not running into his well-known ex Taylor Swift.

During his monologue in his final stint guest-hosting the “The Late Late Show” on Friday, the rock star mentioned his former like interest while discussing the upcoming awards show.

“You can see me at the Grammy Awards doing what I do best,” the singer said. “Being avoided by Taylor Swift.”

When the audience responded with laughter, Mayer added, “That won’t make the Internet at all.”

Swift and Mayer dated for a few months before splitting up in 2010. As if that wouldn’t make a red carpet run-in awkward enough, Mayer is currently dating Katy Perry, with whom Swift had a very public falling out last year.

The rocker referenced his relationship to the “Roar” singer on Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Late Show,” when he defended her Super Bowl performance and interviewed the well-known sharks from her halftime show.

While Mayer might not be on good terms with the “Blank Space” singer, he got along particularly with Swift’s friend Ed Sheeran: The two both revealed the tattoos they designed for one another when the British singer appeared as a guest on Friday’s show.
