What a game! The New England Patriots took the title of champions at the 49th Superbowl last night. But we were patiently waiting Katy Perry’s half-time performance, which was incredible.

Perry was joined by Lenny Kravitz who sang a rocked out version of her hit song I Kissed A Girl, and later Missy Elliot performed a few of her hits. During the 12-minute performance Perry made four speedy wardrobe changes without ever leaving the stage, all designed by her long-time collaborator and friend Jeremy Scott.

Her outfits were “like a Russian nesting doll where you have things on top of things, and then you put something else on before you take something else off,” he clarified to WWD. “It’s been more of a math and science lesson about layering, how to hide and to have her have big reveals,” he added. “I don’t think anyone has taken on four costume changes for a Super Bowl performance ever. I really have to give it to Katy for rising to the occasion. We were formerly only going to do three and I really encouraged her to do a fourth.”

Her first outfit was inspired by Scott’s flamed hi-tops that he made for an Adidas collaboration. She then changed into a beach-ball striped dress, followed by an oversized football sweater during her performance with Missy Elliott, and she finished the show in a starry silver gown as she floated above the stage on a giant shooting star.

What a show!
