Life with the Internet is X-cessively hard, says Pauly Shore

Not surprisingly, Pauly Shore longs for the ’90s. But it’s the new age of porn stars who really have his sympathy.
“I think life before the Internet was better in general, because you could do and say what you like and it wouldn’t end up anywhere,” said Shore, who will be in Williamsburg on Sept. 12 for the 90s Fest. “I feel terrible for these younger girls who are doing porno films, because before you could do a porno and no one would know about it. Now you do a porno and it’s all over the Internet.”
Shore, whose 1990s films included “Encino Man,” “Son in Law” and “In the Army Now,” will share the stage with a lineup that includes retro acts Blind Melon, Smash Mouth, Coolio, Naughty by Nature, Tonic, Salt-N-Pepa and Lisa Loeb.
“Hopefully they’re not too crusty,” says Shore, who calls himself “super-crusty.”
“I think the heavy metal and the grunge era was pretty huge,” he said. “That Kurt Cobain era was pretty massive.”
He echoes the sentiments of most every 47-year-ancient who’s come before him by saying it’s all been done.
“You look at Miley Cyrus the other night (at the VMA Awards), wearing all those (odd) outfits. She’s just Lady Gaga later on — and before her there was Madonna,” he says. “It’s a ‘new thing’ every seven years.”
Shore says he hasn’t spent much time in Williamsburg, but reckons it’s like the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles where he lives.
“It’s the beards and the man buns,” he says. And he doesn’t mind that one bit.
“I’m excited to be out there,” Shore insists. “It’s going to be a fun time, it’ll be excellent. We’re just going to flow. We’ll bring a Slurpee machine or something.”
