A go for the 24-year-ancient appeared completely impossible after Reds boss Brendan Rodgers categorically ruled-out signing Balotelli three-weeks ago.

But in the quick and ever changing landscape of the Premier League, a lot can exchange in 21 days.

Liverpool fans will express joy at the impending signing of the unknowable Italian, many of whom were desperate to see a world class striker replace former Kop hero Luis Suarez.

Furthermore Balotelli could feature in Liverpool’s second Premier League fixture against his former employers Manchester City on Monday night.

Negotiations are still taking place to resolve personal terms with Balotelli, but no complications are expected to arise.

Milan said in a statement on their official website: “Mario Balotelli left Milanello’s sporting centre at 13:30 local time, after saying goodbye to his team-mates.

“Before leaving the premises, the striker has said goodbye to members of Milan’s press office.”

The cheeky troublemaker will constitute Rodgers’ ninth signing of an extremely busy summer, but more are expected to pass through Anfield’s revolving doors in the next 13 days.
