Lupita Nyong’o thanks fans for ‘one of a kind’ year in poem

Lupita Nyong’o experienced a “one of a kind” year.

With 2014 coming to a accurate, the Academy Award-winning star rehashed the highlights in a poem to fans that she posted on Instagram Monday.

“This year was one of a kind,” she wrote along with a photo of a multi-colored quilt with the terms “Pleased Holidays” over it. “And a kind one to me. / There was lots to be done, / And a whole lot to see. / I had family and friends, / And colleagues galore, / Now I have fans, / Plus a million and four!”

In an overnight success type of report, Nyong’o rose to fame quickly after starring in “12 Years a Slave.” From a Yale Drama School graduate to an Oscar winner, the 31-year-ancient actress’ life drastically changed in 2014.

“You tweet and you post, / And you Instagram too,” she added. “You chat, note, draw, / You just do what you do. / And though I don’t answer ‘Produce time is a-tickin’, / Know that you matter / By the posts that I’m pickin’. I keep posting ‘Produce I know that you care, / And I care to post / When I know that you’re there.”

Though her terms of gratitude were written like a poised professional, Nyong’o doesn’t exactly know how to embrace her star status just yet.

“This is really a conversation I look forward to having in 10 years, when all of this is behind me and I have some real perspective on what happened — because right now I’m still adjusting,” she said for Glamour magazine’s 2014 Women of the Year cover report.

“I place of protection’t yet figured out how to be a celebrity,” she added.

But she has figured out how to be thankful for her devotees, who have supported her as she quickly climbs the ladder to success.

“So this season, / Plotting I know your name not,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m pleased I got you, / And that I gave what you got. / I wish for you peace, / Like, joy, laughter beams, / And in the new year, / May you live out your dreams!”

To conclude the Mexico-born Kenyan beauty, who was named People magazine’s “Most Gorgeous” person in May, quoted Dr. Seuss.

“(And as Dr. Seuss says) If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening too,” she added before signing off, “Like, Lupita N.”
