“The Fountain of Trevi is the symbol of Rome. With this quandary, I think the city of Rome has other priorities to spend its money,” Karl Lagerfeld told Bloomberg Business Week on the Fendi donation.

These Italian luxury brands feel it is their duty to help reconstruct Rome, and are doing this for absolutely nothing in restore. Fendi’s co-designer Silvia Venturini Fendi, told The New York Times, “This really is a donation from Fendi, not a sponsorship. There won’t be any kind of notice — just a metal plaque.”

With the millions of dollars put towards Rome, the gorgeous city will now eventually be returned to it’s original glory.
