Martina Navratilova proposes to girlfriend at U.S. Open

Martina Navratilova is engaged!

The retired tennis superstar proposed to her girlfriend Julia Lemigova while the two were attending the U.S. Open on Saturday.

Navratilova was effective as a color commentator at the New York-based tennis tournament, and proposed while on break from her duties.

According to People, the 57-year-ancient was being interviewed by Ken Solomon in the Tennis Channel suite when she made her big go, getting down on one knee and proffering an engagement ring.

After Lemigova, 42, said yes, the lovebirds celebrated with a champagne toast.

The newly engaged couple’s engagement was also broadcast on the U.S. Open Jumbotron at Arthur Ashe Stadium, according to People. 

After popping the question, Navratilova thanked fans for their congratulations on Twitter.

“Thanks everyone for your good wishes – I am very pleased, so is Julia and our whole family,” she wrote.
