Mindy Kaling is no Nobel Prize winner, but she may just be able to play one.

The 35-year-ancient actress was mistaken for 17-year-ancient Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who continues fighting for women’s rights to education after surviving a gunshot wound to the head at the hands of the Taliban.

The confusion took place at a New Yorker Festival event earlier this month, which was revealed in a New York Times article published Friday.

After Kaling gave a speech, she went on to an after-have fun where she was greeted by a “tipsy man in his 80s,” NYT reporter Jacob Bernstein wrote.

“Congratulations on your Nobel Prize,” the man told Kaling, adding his bolt from the blue at how well she in excellent health from the gunshot wound.

“Did he really think I’m Malala?” she said. “And that if I were, I’d be at the Boom Boom Room?”

The comedian took the elderly man’s mistake lightly.

“That’s the best thing that’s happened all night,” she said.

Kaling also expressed her “like” for on-screen sex scenes.

“It’s the one time you can make out with someone who is not your wife or girlfriend and there are no repercussions,” she said. “It’s just so fun.”
