NYFW 2014: The Best Of Days 2/3/4
New York Fashion Week continued over the weekend with some splendid showings from Diane von Furstenberg, DKNY, Thakoon, Monique Lhuillier and Alexander Wang. Prints continue to be a hot trend on the catwalks with geometric patterns, stripes and paisley gracing designs in every colour. As for which shades you should be looking for: coral, orange and periwinkle blue were favored as well as classic black and white. But enough prose, let’s get to the pictures.
Thakoon
Thakoon’s collection called to a place of travel – long lines and barely tied dresses gave the impression of models on vacation. While black and white was a favourite, the line also featured colourful tribal prints and a number of beaded and embroidered skirts.
DKNY
It was all about patterns for DKNY at this year’s NYFW. Coral, orange, blue, yellow, maroon and black and white all intermingled with each other in striped crop tops, pleated A-line skirts and oversized coats. We especially like the stacked sole sandals and running shoes.
Diane von Furstenberg
DVF’s well-known wrap dress was barely seen on this airstrip. Instead, bra-tops an baby-doll dresses were favoured. More prints with gingham and a leaf print were the main themes long with ample showing of legs thanks to many high-slits and only two pairs of pants.
Alexander Wang
Mini-dresses, tennis dresses and sliom pants ruled Alexander Wang’s show. Following a running shoe motif, Wang’s brightly coloured dresses inspired a new take on the classic sneakers of Adidas and Nike. While the models wore heels, running shoes were still walking the airstrip.
Monique Lhuillier
Although the designer is best known for her evening gowns, Monique Lhuillier venture into daytime looks for this NYFW. Her best looks were structured shorts and skirts that lived thanks to a metallic fabric. Of course, you’ll find bounty of floral embellishment here.
