NYFW 2014: The Best Of Days 5/6/7

With just one last day to round out the end of New York Fashion Week, we’re excited to see which trends will take off in the coming months. While there have already been some emerging trends, we also noted a few surprises and unexpected stylings from some of our favourite designer runways. Without further ado, here’s our recap of the best of days 5, 6 and 7.

Rodarte

There have been rumours that the skinny jean is on its way out, but Rodarte found a way to hold on to the unforgiving style and make it look good for NYFW. Paired with patchwork jackets and fleeting ruffled sweaters, the imaginative looks carried a whimsical feel that we can’t wait to wear.

Anna Sui

While Rodarte held onto skinnies, Anna Sui embraced the wide leg pant of yesteryear. Taking heavily from fashion history, Sui artfully managed to piece together a collection that ranges from art deco and florals to hippy-glam. Normally we’d be concerned for this ragtag history lesson, but Sui’s innovative stylings and modern cuts make it work.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors is known for his classic American look and his NYFW showing was no uncommon. The simple shirt and skirt combination was a staple for most runways, but Michael Kors really nailed it with this white poplin shirt with long French cuffs and a pocketed full black silk mikado skirt.

Donna Karan

Donna Karan also nailed the shirt and skirt combo, but added a bevvy of patterns to modernize the prints. We especially loved the graffiti coat with its random shapes and colours that perfectly encapsualted the feeling of Donna Karan’s show.
