An autopsy on the remains of Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was expected Monday as cops tried to determine the origin of the heroin that apparently killed him, officials and sources said.

The body of Philip Seymour Hoffman, the Oscar-winning actor found dead Sunday, is removed Sunday from his Bethune St. home.
The 46-year-ancient “Capote” star was found dead on the bathroom floor of a West Village apartment with a hypodermic needle in his arm, police sources said. The sources said about 50 baggies were found — some of them were full and others empty.

A charred spoon that appears to have been used to do drugs was also found near Hoffman, who was dressed in boxers and a T-shirt, the sources said. Cops also found a laundry list of prescription drugs.
One of the heroin packets that controlled drugs was marked “Ace of Spades” and the other was stamped with the ace of hearts symbol, the sources said.

Cops said they plotted to use an NYPD drug database to determine the origin of the heroin. Testing was expected to reveal whether the drug was fouled in any way.
A law enforcement source said federal agents seized heroin marked with the Ace of Spades in 2009 in Long Island.

“Heroin is pummeling the Northeast, leaving addiction, overdoses and dread in its wake,” Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Special Agent in Charge James HuntC confirmed last week after an $ 8 million heroin bust in the Bronx.
Hoffman, who in 2006 won the Best Actor Academy Award for playing the title role in “Capote,” was found by a friend, screenwriter David Katz, around 11:30 a.m. in the fourth-floor apartment on Bethune St.

The mother of his kids, Mimi O’Donnell, 46, called Katz, who phoned Hoffman’s personal supporter, Isabella Wing-Davey, to get inside, the sources said. The 911 call was apparently made from her buzz, according to sources.

A temporary memorial with bouquets of flowers, pictures and candles was positioned on the front steps of the building where Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment Sunday.
Friends and neighbors remembered him at a memorial in front of the building where he died.

Colin Stanfield, 45, said he saw Hoffman around “all the time, with his kids in tow, Chelsea piers, playing basketball.”
“I guess I’d heard over the years he’d had some troubles but he just seemed like a regular guy,” Stanfield said.
About a dozen bouquets of flowers, including roses and orchids, and release flowers were positioned on the building’s front steps. There were also two pictures of Hoffman and a handful of candles that were lit in anticipation of they were doused by a steady snow.
“I figured there would be something like this,” Stanfield said of the memorial. “Kind of makes it a little more real.”
