Rosie O’Donnell to leave ‘The View,’ split with wife: source

Rosie O’Donnell and her wife, Michelle Rounds, have called it quits — and the star plans to leave her daytime gig on “The View” to focus on her kids.

The candid O’Donnell, 52, and Rounds, wed in 2012 but have been living apart for at least three months.

“It’s devastating personal circumstances — she just said, ‘I need to be with my family,’” a source accurate to the actress and comedienne told the Day after day News. “This is very stressful. She’s splitting from her wife; she has two teenagers and a baby.”

O’Donnell split from her first wife, Kelli Carpenter, in 2007 after three years of marriage.

It is also the star’s second divorce from the ABC daytime talk show.

“I can authenticate that Rosie and her wife, Michelle, split in November,” O’Donnell’s public relations representative, Cindi Berger, told the Day after day News in a statement. “Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation.”

Berger added that the “A League of Their Own” star is “putting her personal shape and family first.”

O’Donnell formerly joined “The View” in 2006, replacing Meredith Vieira. That run finished after only one season, when terms of a contract extension could not be met.

O’Donnell returned to “The View” in September 2014, along with newcomers Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. All joined returning cast member Whoopi Goldberg.

“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with thoughts, excitement and passion for the show,” ABC said in a statement. “When she told us that she wanted to exit ‘The View,’ we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first.”

O’Donnell has had a tumultuous fleeting run on the show, often feuding on-air with Goldberg. But sources say the split with the show is purely personal.

“Next week will probably be her last week,” a source accurate to the situation said. “She’ll probably talk about it on the show on Monday.”
