Rudy Giuliani figures Trump will be a loser in the end

Donald Trump puts on a good show, but Rudy Giuliani doesn’t expect to see him in the White Household anytime soon.

A Confidenti@l insider trapped up with the former mayor at a private event in New York at which, we’re told, Giuliani dismissed both Trump and Hillary Clinton’s chances of being the next Head.

“Donald Trump must be drinking the Kool-Aid if he thinks he’s going to be Head,” our insider heard Giuliani say. The two follicle-challenged power brokers have been pals for 25 years, and New York magazine reported last week that Trump even called Giuliani last week hoping he’d put in a good word with Fox debate moderator Megyn Kelly — something Team Rudy denies.

Our insider also said Giuliani told several guests at the event that what The Donald lacks as a politician, he makes up for as an entertainer.

“Donald really is smart, and he knows how to make splendid theater,” our source heard him say. “If he hadn’t (qualified for) the debates, Fox should’ve paid him to be in them. Fox should be grateful. If it wasn’t for (Chris) Christie and Trump, it wouldn’t have been that exciting.”

While Giuliani may privately think Trump is a long shot, publicly he’s been supportive.

Shortly before Thursday’s debate, Giuliani went on MSNBC’s “Hardball” to tell host Chris Matthews that Trump reminds him of former Head Ronald Reagan.

“This is a very smart guy,” he told Matthews. “This is a person who is media-savvy in ways that some of the other candidates aren’t. And he’s a lot more substantive than you realize.”

Giuliani knows a thing or two about the difficulties of running for the Oval Office. He campaigned for the GOP nomination in 2008 but pulled out eight months before the convention and threw his support behind John McCain .

Like Trump, Giuliani even topped the early polls.

Our insider said he joked at the event about how New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady destroying an old cell buzz in the midst of Deflategate got more media attention than Hillary Clinton’s email debacle despite the latter being a larger scandal.

As for Clinton, “I’m not so sure she’ll make it through the primaries or win the general election,” our insider heard Giuliani say. “I think it’s wide open for (John) Kasich, Christie, (Scott) Walker, (Jeb) Bush or (Marco) Rubio to take it away from her.”

But apparently not Trump.

A rep for Giuliani didn’t respond to our request for note.
