‘The Woods’ got Grimm for Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt & more
The all-star cast of “Into the Woods” talked to us about their favorite fairy tales at the film’s glitzy Ziegfeld Theatre premiere. And while many stars predictably listed the Brothers Grimm tales that inspired their film as faves, the star-of-stars named a French folktale as her top pick. “I was fascinated by ‘Bluebeard,’ ” Oscar winner Meryl Streep told us. “ ‘Bluebeard’ was very scary to me.” “Pleased Christmas” star Anna Kendrick, but, named the Brothers Grimm tale “Hansel and Gretel” her favorite. “A household made out of candy really appealed to me,” she said. “I could live in it and eat it and then die of exposure.”
Emily Blunt also went Grimm, naming “Cinderella” as her fave. “I plotting it was so remarkable that there was one shoe that would fit one girl and I did believe it,” Blunt confessed. “I plotting it was magical.” “Cinderella” was also a perfect fit for actor James Corden. “I’m a big Cinderella fan and I always plotting I would play ‘Cinderella’ in this movie, he said. “But (director Rob Marshall) didn’t see it, which I still to this day deliberate an outrage.” Actress Christine Baranski’s favorite kids’ report was also a Brothers Grimm tale, thanks to its artful illustrations. “Whatever I saw of ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ was so captivating visually that I will never forget it,” she said.
SLAM ‘BANG’ SHOW FOR JESSIE, ARIANA
After grinding on stage together at the Jingle Ball in St. Paul, Minn., on Monday, British sensation Jessie J and tiny troublemaker Ariana Grande were all smiles as they embraced. The duo performed their hit “Bang Bang,” without the rap verse by Nicki Minaj, at the concert, which also featured Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor and Rita Ora.
STING GETS A HULL OF A HAND
Sting made his acting debut in Broadway’s “The Last Ship” to a tidal wave of support on Tuesday, including wife Trudie Styler, who said she’d be in the audience cheering his premiere as upright shipyard foreman Jackie White, a key role he’ll play through Jan. 10 to boost the sagging box office. “It’s a gorgeous piece of work full of Sting’s wonderful composition and lyrics, and I’m even more proud to be considering Sting take his place on stage for as long as he can to help tell this report,” she said.

LENA HAS A BARRY DIFFERENT BOOK
Random Household will nip a passage in future printings of Lena Dunham’s book, “Not That Kind of Girl,” due to concerns about a man named Barry, who attended the same the high classes as the “Girls” star a decade ago, being falsely accused of raping her. Dunham uses the pseudonym “Barry” when naming her attacker, but didn’t make clear that his real name was uncommon. Now the book will include a disclaimer that Barry is not the man’s real name. The falsely ID’d Barry had started a GoFundMe account to raise money for legal action.

Just because Derek Jeter is retired, it doesn’t mean he wants kids just yet. The former Yankee hit his annual Turn 2 Holiday Prompt event, where he told us he’s in no rush to start a family with galpal Hannah Davis. “Ha, we’ll see one day. There is no timer ticking, but one day I hope to (have kids),” Jeter told Confidenti@l. The charity, which aims to help keep kids off drugs and alcohol, hosted an advanced screening of “Annie” before Jeter, along with Santa and some elves, paid a bolt from the blue visit.
