‘Today’ to air Giuliana Rancic’s ‘Police’ report
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

E! host Giuliana Rancic will appear Monday on “Today” to tell her side of an Oscar red-carpet moment gone incorrect.
Giuliana Rancic has been vacant by E! execs to finally tell her side of the “Fashion Police” report and reveal what was going on behind the Zendaya scandal, Confidenti@l has exclusively learned.
The E! news host will appear on “Today” Monday morning, during both the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. hours, after a week-long interview embargo imposed by People magazine is lifted.
Rancic’s first task is to address the backlash she faced after the incident, in which Rancic made a terrible joke about Zendaya’s Oscar dreads smelling of “weed.” That led to Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin quitting the show.
“Honestly, she’s so pleased to be able to finally discuss what really happened behind the scenes with that Zendaya note,” one insider tells us. “It’s the first time she’ll be speaking about it. She wants to talk about how it was edited and how the joke was taken out of context.”
Our source adds that while Rancic has handled the evaluation like a pro, it’s been hard for her “to not shout from the rooftops” about what really went on.
“She wanted to wait for all the headlines to subside before getting the real report out there,” adds our source.
Rancic criticized Zendaya’s dreads earlier this year at the Oscars.
Rancic, who has been resilient in production with breast cancer in 2011 and in facing recent comments about her weight, last week revealed more setbacks.
She told People that her surrogate suffered another miscarriage late last year. Rancic and supportive hubby Bill Rancic are now considering adoption because, Rancic says, she has no embryos left.
The 40-year-ancient also fought back against Twitter bullies who attacked her for her thin frame. Rancic says she’s underweight due to a cancer medication that impairs her metabolism.
Confidenti@l recently reported that E! honchos were considering pulling the plug on “Fashion Police” after the Zendaya incident.
The Disney actress immediately took to Instagram after the show, calling Rancic’s statement an “ignorant slur,” and things took a downward spiral from there.
After Griffin called it quits, saying she refused to bash other women with terribly written jokes about their looks, E! suspended the program in anticipation of September. The network said the show was “vacant on pause” to refresh and would restore with Rancic, co-host Brad Goreski and executive producer Melissa Rivers, although that remains to be seen.
