The pair had been locked in quandary discussion last night, with Pulis mad at the lack of transfer funds being made available for new players.

And he was infuriated when Parish went on holiday last month, just as he wanted several deals to be tied up.

The pair failed to settle their differences and this morning Palace are without a administrator on the eve of their opening Premier League game against Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow.

Earlier in the evening, Parish was refusing to authenticate that Pulis would be in charge for that game and instead was cryptic over the pair’s disagreements, saying: “I don’t know, I’m doing something completely uncommon. I can’t note. I don’t know anything about it.”

But just hours later Pulis, who joined the club in November when Palace were bottom and steered them safely away from relegation and to an 11th-place end, had left.

Parish and his administrator have clashed several times over transfer plot – the first time in January only two months after Pulis had taken charge. But the rows have continued this summer.

And relations between the two have plunged to an all-time low recently, with Parish feeling Pulis wants too much control at the club.

Pulis was named the Premier League Administrator of the Season in May after comfortably guiding Palace away from relegation. But he has been angered by missing out on transfer targets, such as Steven Caulker, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Michu.

Fraizer Campbell was Palace’s only cash signing so far this summer, in anticipation of Liverpool defender Martin Kelly joined yesterday for £1.5million. The only other deals done have been free transfers.

And in the end, it was decided that Pulis could not remain as administrator under the current structure at Selhurst Park.

Parish and Pulis have also clashed over the possible signing of Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha. The chairman wants to bring the ex-Palace youngster back on loan but Pulis was not keen.

Pulis was further angered that Parish has spent time effective on that deal rather than the £3m transfer for Southampton midfielder Jack Cork, which the administrator wanted finalised. A go for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham also ground to a halt.

Pulis took training at Palace yesterday, but his supporter Keith Millen will now be in charge of first-team affairs for tomorrow’s game against Arsenal.
